Michelle has been with Gill Akaster LLP since 1992, having started her practice in Family Law in 1989, and became a partner in 2000. 

Her practice is exclusively family law and she undertakes a broad range of work within this field, with an emphasis on divorce / civil partnership dissolution,  matrimonial finance, to include pension sharing/offsetting,  pre and post nuptial agreements, and cohabitation cases.  

Michelle is accredited by Resolution in Advanced Financial Provision  and Children law. She is in the process of expanding her accreditation to recognise her work in high finance issues following divorce and acting for cohabitants. 

She is also a trained mediator, and has practiced in this area significantly in the past, having been a recognised mediator by the Legal Services Commission.

Outside the office Michelle has been instrumental in creating an after school provision in her local community, until recently chairing the committee,  and steered the provision through OFFSTEAD.  She is a mum to two children and 2 ponies and a dog!
