10/07/2009 Have a Heart

During July, Partner Phil Oke had a brainwave whilst watching the television series ‘Mary Queen of Charity Shops’, where they gave charity shops a face lift and helped them raise more money by selling better quality clothes. We decided that we could help out here and have a collection of our own and as we had not yet decided on a local charity to support for the year, we contacted the British Heart Foundation on Cornwall Street to see if they would be interested in us doing this on their behalf. With most staff participating we managed to collect a huge number of items including clothes, shoes, bags and belts. We also contacted Plymouth Argyle and arranged for footballer Luke Summerfield, who we sponsor, to come in with some of his own clothes for donation, along with a signed Argyle ball for the British Heart Foundation to sell on Ebay to raise extra funds. Claire Rennie and Area Manager, Ginnie Mosey, from the British Heart Foundation were thrilled to receive all the items and couldn’t thank us enough for our help and support. The item appeared in The Herald on July 15th.
