Your Injury - Injuries to Children
We understand the worries and concerns that any injury to a child can cause parents and how it can affect the whole family. At Gill Akaster our solicitors understand the needs of those involved and will put you in touch with support organisations to obtain the help and assistance that you need.
A child under the age of 18 is unable to pursue a claim in their own right and must do so through a friend known as a "litigation friend". A litigation friend must be an adult who is prepared to act in the child's best interests. The adult is normally a relative but can be any adult who is willing to act on behalf of the child.
If a person is under 18 at the time of their accident then they will normally have until their 21st birthday to start their claim. However it is always best to seek advice from a solicitor as soon as possible as it is crucial to obtain evidence quickly to ensure that the recollections of those involved are still accurate.
